Krispy Kreme + McDonald's = A Match We Didn't Know We Wanted.

Two of America’s classic brands are performing a small market test on a new venture. In late October, McDonald’s began selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts at select stores in Kentucky and Indiana. Krispy Kreme already has a practice selling their doughnuts at convenience stores and mall kiosks, but this would be the first time they have partnered with a major fast-food brand.

"McDonald’s is always looking for ways to give our fans more of what they crave, and we often conduct tests to inform future menu decisions," McDonald’s said in a press release. "This small-scale test will help us understand how offering new bakery items like Krispy Kreme could impact operations in our restaurants."

Visitors to 9 Louisville-area stores will be able to get 3 different classic Krispy Kreme doughnuts all day long in-store and via the drive-thru—the original glazed, chocolate frosted with sprinkles, and the raspberry-filled doughnut.

If the trial is successful, Krispy Kreme doughnuts could soon be sold in restaurants across the country.

"This is our first partnership with McDonald’s in the US as we constantly look for new ways to increase access to fresh donuts through our delivered fresh daily network — a key element of our omnichannel strategy to attain 50,000 points of access globally," Krispy Kreme added.
