Summertime, summertime, sum- sum- summertime ...
Once again, Starbucks is reminding us what season it is by rolling out its summer drinks just in time for Memorial Day weekend. As 90 percent of the coffee chain's stores plan to be reopened by June 1, they also expanded their menu on Thursday, May 21, by bringing back the popular S'mores Frappuccino and debuting a new pink drink called the Iced Guava Passionfruit Drink—as well as a protein box and cake pop.
First, let's address the return of the S'mores Frappuccino. Marshmallow-infused whipped cream. Milk chocolate sauce. Vanilla, coffee, milk, and ice. More marshmallow whipped cream. And a graham cracker crumble over the top. It does actually taste like a campfire s'more, and it is truly divine. Insider tip: If you're going to order it without whip, then there's no point. The marshmallow flavor is what makes it (instead, maybe try the Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino).
The new "pink drink" is actually called the Iced Guava Passionfruit Drink, and it's Starbucks' nod to their dairy-free customer base. A delicious blend of coconut milk, guava juice, and pineapple-ginger syrup, this one's supposedly really light and refreshing! We can't wait to try it!
As far as food items, the new Grilled Chicken & Hummus Protein Box joins the summer menu, featuring grilled chicken breast paired with roasted red pepper hummus, naan bread, baby carrots, and snap peas.
And, shaped like a unicorn's head (with a pastel horn and mane), the new unicorn cake pop is vanilla-flavored and super-yummy—as would be expected.
An insider says we can look forward to potential mid-summer menu releases, too! Keep your fingers crossed!
So, have you tried any of these new offerings from Starbucks? What's your favorite? Are you glad that the S'mores Frapp is back in our lives at last? Are you hoping they'll bring back any other favorite summer drinks? Sound off in the comments!
