And my heart is broken.

The estate of novelist Tom Clancy finally sold his Huntingtown, Maryland, waterfront mansion, and I couldn't be any sadder. While originally listed for $6.2 million two years ago, the property finally sold for $6.2 million. After multiple developers toyed with splitting it into 11 lots and selling them inidvidually, a family ended up buying the entire 537-acre parcel.

The property features a 17,000-square-foot main house with seven bedrooms, vaulted cedar ceilings, a gourmet kitchen, an elevator, and an indoor pool in a glass pavilion. The incredible Peregrine Cliff estate also includes a subterranean gun range, tennis courts, basketball courts, guest houses, one whole mile of waterfront, and stunning views of the Chesapeake Bay.

Built in 1989, the home was listed by Angel Stevens & Associates Realty.

"It is certainly one of the largest (if not the largest) waterfront lot in all of Maryland," Stevens told NBC Washington back when the property was first listed.

Clancy, who died in Baltimore in 2013, was the author of dozens of novels (mostly with espionage and military science-related plots), and he perhaps most famously created the Jack Ryan character and world, from which multiple books and movies were spurred.

And, according to Stevens, Clancy apparently even developed the property in the same vein as the fictional home of his famous character Jack Ryan—on purpose.

This beautiful library looks like the stuff that many books were made of, amiright? *sigh*

Nevertheless, Stevens believes that the family who ended up with the property will "make a wonderful addition to the community.”
