The rustic mountain ranch in Grand County has its own saloon and private ski hills.
Elk Island Ranch is located in Kremmling, Colorado, in Grand County and sold on December 31 for a whopping $30 million. The property was last sold for $24.3 million about 22 years ago, in 1999. The luxurious ranch sits on approximately 6,343 deeded acres and is an elegant oasis set in some of the most beautiful landscapes the state has to offer.
Elk Island Ranch was listed with real estate brokerage Hall and Hall, with an asking price of $36 million.
The almost 10-square-mile ranch is about 50 miles from five different ski resorts: Breckenridge Copper Mountain, Keystone, Steamboat, and Winter Park.
The property was listed for sale by local businessman Charlie Gallagher, who purchased it in 1999 as High Plains Ranch. The ranch began being marketed in 2018 as Elk Island and was purchased on December 31, 2020, by Capstone Property Group LLC, as reported by the Denver Business Journal. The property was purchased turnkey; most of the furnishings, decor, recreation equipment, and vehicles were included with the sale.
The main residence is a 16,000-square-foot rustic lodge that houses 12 bathrooms, five bedrooms, an elevator, a gourmet kitchen, an attached catering kitchen, a three-story log staircase, a home theater, an in-home gym, a custom bar, hot tub, an outdoor playhouse, and so much more.
The custom home is built with natural log and stone materials and welcomes visitors with an impressive elk antler chandelier.
The Nevada House Saloon is a venue that can host up to 100 people and is set adjacent to the lodge. It's fully set up to allow guests to camp out in the upper level, with a 10,500-square-foot dance floor below. A stage, gaming area, catering kitchen, and more make this a location fit for just about any gathering. The Saloon and lodge are connected by an outdoor courtyard and stone path.
The ranch also has a 14,400 square foot Ranch Shop with five oversize garage doors, a 3/4 bath, locker room, break room, kitchen, and fully carpeted heated loft. Along with that comes the Outpost Chalet, a “base camp for year-round activities”. The chalet has a wood-burning fireplace, a loft that sleeps four, a king-sized guest room, and a custom granite-and-wood kitchen.

Along with the buildings, the ranch includes 11 private ski runs, Nordic skiing, snowmobiling, and a groomed 2,400-foot sledding hill. There are plenty of hiking and biking trails, as well as areas for wildlife viewing, fishing, and hunting. Elk River Ranch has full access to Grand River Ranch and all of its facilities and venues.
