When it comes to potatoes, TikTok is full of innovative recipes.

The best thing about Recipe-Tok is that you can breeze through ideas in less than an episode of your favorite show. This simple potato recipe has taken TikTok by storm, and I couldn't wait to put it to the test. Could just a handful of ingredients transfer your everyday spuds? Let's see!

RECIPE: TikTok Roasted Potatoes (serves 4-5)

Ingredients:

  • 12 baby potatoes (I used Yukon Gold)
  • 1/4 cup salted butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 TBSP. olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. paprika

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
  2. In a standard round cake pan or 9-inch square casserole dish, mix the melted butter and Parmesan cheese. Spread the mixture out evenly on the bottom of the pan and set it aside.
  3. Wash and scrub your potatoes, then cut them in half. Score the potatoes at least 1/4-inch deep in a tic-tac-toe pattern. In a large mixing bowl, toss the potatoes with the olive oil and seasonings. Place the potatoes cut side down into the pan.
  4. Bake for 35 minutes, then remove the pan and turn the oven to the broil setting. Flip over all of the potatoes and broil for 3 minutes to get a nice brown crust.

Variations:

  • You can use any kind of baby potatoes for this recipe. I've even seen people use small red potatoes that are about 3 inches in diameter. Keep in mind that the cooking time should change if you use larger potatoes.
  • 1/3 cup of Parmesan gives you a very light crust. You can always sprinkle on more before you broil the potatoes.
  • Go to town with the seasonings you use. You're essentially starting off with a blank canvas.

In the end, I had to take the best parts of different TikToks to get a really great version of this recipe. Give it a try—you won't regret it!
