The weather in Colorado is finally warming up, signaling that summer is just around the corner. It is the season for icy drinks, sunbathing, and outdoor activities. Unfortunately, sunny days and hot coffee don’t necessarily mix.

It’s a good thing Denver has a variety of trendy coffee shops with plenty of options for iced coffees and cold brews. Here are a few places that offer the best iced coffee to beat the heat this summer.

There are few coffee shops out there as passionate about their craft as Novo Coffee. It currently has four locations in the Denver area but many restaurants serve their coffee throughout the city as well. With roasts from Central America to Africa, Novo Coffee brews a complex and satisfying iced coffee that will give you a caffeine kick while keeping you refreshed.

Corvus Coffee Roasters

This name might have popped up in a few Google searches for "best coffee in Denver" and that's because Corvus Coffee Roasters is always 10 steps ahead of the game. This modern-industrial styled coffee shop is known nationwide for hybridizing coffee and beer. Their unique Corvus Hopped Coffee, which can also be found in Whole Food Markets, is sure to be a cold and bold summer experience.

Crema Coffee House

If you are headed over to RiNo, Cream Coffee House is worth visiting for its cold brew. Served either with ice or straight, their cold coffee is smooth but with complex flavor notes. It's the perfect option when looking for the taste of coffee but not the same strength of caffeine since caffeine is extracted differently with cold water.

Vinh Xuong Bakery II

It would be impossible to go wrong here since Vinh Xuong Bakery II was voted in 2015 by Westword as having the best iced coffee in the city. Stop by this Vietnamese bakery for a new coffee experience. They take great care in preparing the best Vietnamese-style iced coffee, using condensed milk instead of plain sugar for a richer and deeper taste.

Whether you feel like a cold beer or iced coffee, Hooked on Colfax has got what you need. It's also a great place to stop for a java treat before heading to City Park a few blocks away.

Thump Coffee
