The new "Horror Bar" on Colfax features weekly horror film screenings and scary good craft cocktails.

If you love horror, you can't miss out on a visit to Horror Bar, a new Colfax joint serving up specialty cocktails and movie screenings for anyone with a taste for horror.

Horror movie fanatic Nathan Szklarski set up the pop-up bar in the old Bellwether Cafe with the permission of the cafe's owner and good friend of Szklarski, Josh Schmitz. Horror Bar opened last November and was so popular from the start, they were booked for the first two weeks of operating. Following the pop-up's success, Szklarski made Horror Bar a permanent installment at Bellwether, with a grand opening celebration on March 5.

The bar features horror movies for daily screenings, from classics like The Shining to newer thrillers like Midsommar. If you visit on the weekend, movies are playing all day, while big-name features play during the week.

The fun doesn't end at movies, either. Horror Bar's frighteningly crafty cocktails are a must-try. The team creates cocktails with nods to movies, like the "May Queen," a sweet, colorful drink paying homage to the star character of Midsommar. Or you could order the "Facehugger," a bright green beverage with aliens in mind. Szklarski also plans to unveil new cocktails this summer.

If cocktails aren't your thing, Horror Bar offers various beer and wine to satiate every taste bud.

You can find Horror Bar at 5126 E. Colfax Ave., and there are no reservations required. While their website is under construction, you can visit their Instagram page for updates on film schedules and new cocktails.
