20 percent of proceeds will go towards the Colorado Chapter of HopeKids.

Mici Handcrafted Italian, a five-unit fast-casual restaurant chain that features homemade Italian fare, will launch its Week of Giving on November 30 with a charitable program to benefit the Colorado Chapter of HopeKids—provides events, activities, and a supportive community for families who have a child with cancer or a life-threatening medical condition.

From November 30 through December 6, Mici guests can participate in the fundraiser by entering the code "HOPEKIDS" into their delivery or carryout orders. Mici will donate 20 percent of the order to HopeKids and diners will receive a free kids pizza kit with orders over $15. The code and fundraiser are valid for delivery and carryout orders.

The kit features dough, sauce, cheese, pepperoni and a veggie—perfect for kids to have fun preparing their own pizza at home.

Mici's Co-Founder and President Jeff Miceli joined with HopeKids Colorado Executive Director Howie Hutchinson and 20 HopeKids families for a virtual pizza-making event to demonstrate the pizza kits and kick off the fundraiser. The young pizza chefs learned how to roll, stretch, and throw their dough, expertly apply sauce, and finish off with toppings of their choice.

“Out of hundreds of virtual events, this was one of the most engaging virtual events that we've been able to offer the HopeKids families who we serve here in Colorado," said Hutchinson.

The realities of isolation and social distancing are familiar to families who have a child with a life-threatening medical condition. Cold and flu season and now COVID-19 restrictions have temporarily halted many of the organization's programs, prompting it to seek out creative ways to bring support, fun and community to the families in virtual formats.

Mici donates more than $70,000 each year to local schools and children's organizations. The company has two locations in Denver as well as locations in Lafayette, Lone Tree, and Parker. Recently, Mici had to shutter its Downtown Denver location.
