Wind down after a day in the water with some delicious beach town food!

Just a block from the Chesapeake Bay, Hook & Vine is a great dining option the next time you're in North Beach. Casual enough for a family lunch, it's also nice enough for a weekend brunch or date night.

I had the BLT deviled eggs to start, then the southern fish and chips with a side of brussels sprouts. The blueberry lavender lemonade was the perfect "zero proof cocktail" to complement the meal.

Hands down, the fish and chips were my favorite dish of the day. It was prepared with large portions of local blue catfish and served with a snappy aioli and a pile of fresh-cut fries. The glossy roasted sprouts came in right behind it, with just the right combination of sweet and salty maple bacon goodness.

chocolate cake

I boxed everything up so I could sample the flourless chocolate cake and it was well worth the effort. If you love to lick the spoon after making chocolate ganache, then this is the dessert for you. A ruby-hued drizzle of coulis helped balance out the richness nicely. Overall, you can tell that the kitchen really cares about what goes out on the plate and I'm looking forward to trying more from their diverse menu.

Hook & Vine is open for dining in, outdoor dining, and takeout. They even have dog bowls if you come by with your four-legged family members! The next time you're looking for fine dining and creative cocktails by the bay, give them a try.
