Get your tacos even faster with Taco Bell's new mobile restaurants.
During the COVID pandemic, more people have begun to rely on drive-thrus for a socially distant way to get some of their favorite foods. Well, Taco Bell is looking to help these customers by creating a mobile concept that will make drive-thru service faster and more convenient.
The concept, called “Go Mobile,” will launch drive-thru-only Taco Bell restaurants across the nation. These restaurants will be half the size of a regular Taco Bell establishment and will include two drive-thru lanes and smart kitchen technology. One of the drive-thru lanes will be a priority pick-up lane for customers who ordered online ahead of time, while the other will act as a regular drive-thru.

Customers will also be able to opt for contactless curbside pick-up. To streamline the process, Go mobile restaurants will have a concierge team known as “bellhops” who will take orders on a tablet in drive-thrus and for curbside pickup. New smart kitchen technology will also integrate with the Taco Bell app and restaurants will detect when customers have arrived at their location. The app will then tell the customer which route to enter for the best and quickest pick-up.
According to Taco Bell President, Mike Grams the Go Mobile concept was created with customers in mind.
“With demand for our drive-thru at an all-time high, we know adapting to meet our consumers rapidly changing needs has never been more important," said Grams. "The Taco Bell Go Mobile restaurant concept is not only an evolved physical footprint, but a completely synchronized digital experience centered around streamlining guest access points. For the first time, our guests will have the ability to choose the pick-up experience that best fits their needs, all while never leaving the comfort of their cars."
The first Taco Bell Go Mobile restaurant is months away from opening; however, the company has already started to implement some of the new features in its existing restaurants. Taco Bell is currently working on increasing their speed of service and reported that they’ve already reduced the average time spent in drive-thrus by 15 seconds since the first quarter of 2020.
In July, Taco Bell also launched the Taco Bell beta loyalty program, which gives customers more customization in what they order online.
