Just outside of Washington, D.C., NoVA is known for its delicious pho. In fact, it's pretty pho-tastic.

What is pho? Well, it’s a traditional Vietnamese soup with meat, herbs, and rice noodles. And there are many places in Northern Virginia for you to eat this delicious meal, especially as the weather turns cooler (always the best time for soup!).

Here are some of the best pho restaurants in Northern Virginia.

Pho 75

1721 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA 22209

Pho 75 is one of those places you go if you want to make sure you get the traditional pho experience. It’s also a place that you go to if you want something casual with no frills. It's so no-frills, in fact, that it's actually a cash-only restaurant. Come prepared with your bills rather than your plastic.

Here, your pho is completely customizable. You can start with the basics --broth, noodles, your choice of meat. Then you can add on herbs, spices, vegetables, and anything else you would like.

Pho Deluxe

2300 Clarendon Blvd, Arlington, VA 22201

While Pho 75 masters simplicity in décor and service, Pho Deluxe is a place that you go when you want to be a little more stylish. The décor is bright and airy, and you might want to stick around for more than just carry-out.

At Pho Deluxe, you can order a variety of the specialty phos featured on the menu, but also an array of appetizers, salads, and more. And it is also a great place to get some bubble tea. Read up on the menu here before you go.

Hai Duong

6795 Wilson Blvd #7, Falls Church, VA 22044

Hai Duong is actually located inside of Eden Center, and it’s one of the best and most popular Vietnamese restaurants in there. It’s a very casual space, but don’t let that fool you. Sometimes it’s the hole-in-the-wall restaurants that really have the best food, right?

The food here is regarded as very authentic; make sure you try out the “house special” menu to taste the delicacies of the house. If you feel like something safer, there is also a regular menu for you to choose from.

Four Sisters

8190 Strawberry Ln #1, Falls Church, VA 22042

Four Sisters is a charming and adorable little restaurant, serving Vietnamese food and specializing in their signature pho dishes. It’s also been around the Northern Virginia for over two decades, so it’s pretty clear they know what they’re doing. And the name, Four Sisters, refers to the four sisters the owners have, who help them run the restaurant.

Pho Sate

2814 Graham Rd, Falls Church, VA 22042

If you like your pho (or any other food) spicy, this is the Vietnamese spot for you to try. Pho Sate has a signature spicy sate sauce that is accompanied with their dishes, and they consider themselves pho and noodle experts, because that’s really all they serve.

Check out the wide selection of options here. I would also note that like the first pho spot, this one is a bit more casual -- and cash only.
