Be sure to watch young Richmonders perform on the Today Show on Friday, August 10!

Grammy winner/singer-songwriter, Jason Mraz, who was born in Mechanicsville, VA, is due to perform on the Today Show this Friday, August 10. And accompanying his performance will be a number of students from the School of the Performing Arts in the Richmond Community (SPARC), which has been setting the stage for youth to express themselves through musical theater for almost 40 years.

Mraz, a SPARC alumnus, has continually supported and done a number of performances with the performing arts nonprofit throughout the years, including this year's LIVE ART event, which is an inclusive program that showcases participation from performers of all abilities. A graduate of Lee-Davis High School, Mraz also spent some time at Longwood University before pursuing his recording career in California.

The performance on the Today Show lines up with the release of Mraz's new album, "Know," which will be out on Friday. SPARC students will accompany Mraz for the three-song performance, one of which will be his recent release, "Have it All." Many of the students performing on Friday were in the music video for "Have it All," which was filmed in Richmond and features many notable sights around the city.
