The Denver Broncos are interested in adding Top Free Agent Calais Campbell for the defensive end position. He could be the Broncos number one choice if they do not pursue quarterback Tony Romo.

Calais Campbell, a free agent, is on the top of the Denver Broncos' wish list heading into the upcoming season. It would be a homecoming of sorts for Campbell, who attended high school in Denver before playing college ball at the University of Miami and eventually becoming a second-round pick for the Arizona Cardinals in 2008. Campbell is the top 3-4 defensive end in the free agent market and was listed as the top free agent available in the NFL this year. Throughout his nine-year career, Campbell has continuously played at a high level and is on the tail end of a great season with the Cardinals. Over his career he has totaled 501 tackles, 56.2 sacks, 2 safeties, 42 pass deflections, 3 interceptions, and 8 forced fumbles. He would be a valuable asset to the Broncos' elite defense. If signed, Campbell would be paired with Derek Wolfe for the defensive end position, and his presence will not only help against the pass, but it will also help against the run. Campbell is one the top run defenders in the NFL and the Broncos could certainly benefit from having him, especially since their run defense struggled last season. https://twitter.com/JonHeathNFL/status/839539388568719360
However, there is some bad news for the Denver Broncos... They aren't the only team interested in Calais Campbell. The Jacksonville Jaguars have him high on their list too. https://twitter.com/AroundTheNFL/status/839228868397428736 In terms of negotiating a contract, Campbell is looking to wind up in similar territory as the Jaguars' Malik Jackson – he signed a 6 year, $85.5 million deal with $31.5 million fully guaranteed and $42 in total guarantees. That averages to about $14.25 million a year, which is a lot of money for a soon to be 31-year-old defensive end. And with the Broncos' interest in Tony Romo, they would not be able to afford signing both Campbell and Romo.
