The Northern Colorado Owlz will play their inaugural season at Future Legends Complex in 2022.

Minor league baseball is coming to Windsor, Colorado, next year when the Northern Colorado Owlz will play their inaugural season at Future Legends Complex, a 118-acre sports park that is under construction in Windsor, Colorado. The team was previously the Orem Owlz, an affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels that played on the campus of Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. Prior to that, the Owlz were known as the Provo Angels from 2001-2004.

Due to COVID-19, minor league baseball was canceled in 2020. The Owlz had been scheduled to begin playing in northern Colorado this year with an abbreviated season. The team's ownership, however, elected to begin playing next year when, hopefully, fans will be able to visit the state-of-the-art, multi-purpose stadium after COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. The decision is supported by the other teams in the Pioneer League, which recently was designated as a "partner league" of Major League Baseball.

"We want to give our fans the best possible experience when they come to an Owlz game for the first time, making sure we prioritize their health, and welcoming them to Future Legends Complex with a fully finished stadium, retail, restaurants, and other sports fields," said Jeff Katofsky, owner of the team and CEO of the Future Legends facility.

Future Legends Complex was co-founded by Katofsky and former Colorado Rockies star Ryan Spilborghs. The 118-acre campus includes a professional stadium, multiple baseball diamonds and multipurpose fields, an indoor bubble with courts and turf, lodging, retail, and more. It is scheduled to open fully in spring 2022.

The 92-game 2022 season will run from about Memorial Day through mid-September. The other teams in the Pioneer League are the Billings Mustangs, the Grand Junction Rockies, the Great Falls Voyagers, the Idaho Falls Chukars, the Missoula PaddleHeads, the Ogden Raptors, and the Rocky Mountain Vibes.

The Owlz will play alongside the newly announced Northern Colorado Football Club (NoCo FC), a United Soccer League expansion team that will also play at Future Legends Complex.
