The Colorado Avalanche and Vegas Golden Knights go head-to-head on Saturday at Lake Tahoe.
The outdoor rink was built on the 18th hole of the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course. What a perfect spot for two teams to face off on the ice.
As both teams sit in the Honda West Division, the Golden Knights are the favored pick with a 10-3-1 record. The Avalanche have a respectable 8-4-1 record. With the Avalanche winning four games at home and four games away, they're solid contenders.
Head Coach Jared Bednar is expecting a win as the team has consistently played with energy each game of the season. "I don't see why it should be any different in the outdoor game," said Bednar.

According to nhl.com, the NHL Outdoors game in Lake Tahoe will be the third outdoor game for the Avalanche. "The Avs hosted the Detroit Red Wings in the 2016 Stadium Series at Coors Field (5-3 loss) and hosted the Los Angeles Kings a year ago at the 2020 Stadium Series at the Air Force Academy (3-1 loss)."
"The last time the team took to the open winter air was the Stadium Series at Falcon Stadium in Colorado Springs a year ago. The first outdoor game for the Avs was at Coors Field in 2016 vs. the Detroit Red Wings," writes Fox31.
