If you're looking for something special to do in honor of Memorial Day, the "Colorado Remembers" annual ceremony and concert promises to be a patriotic and meaningful event.

Presented by the City of Aurora and the Colorado Freedom Memorial Foundation, the annual "Colorado Remembers" Memorial Day Ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 27, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the theme "From Hallowed Ground to Home's Embrace." Featured appearances will include:
  • The U.S. Air Force Honor Guard and Drill Team (from Washington, D.C.)
  • The Sound of the Rockies Men’s Chorus
  • The Governor’s Own 101st Army Band
  • Members of the famed 10th Mountain Division
  • Colorado National Guard
  • Other military representatives, military re-enactors, and special guests
[gallery size="large" columns="2" ids="16081,16082"] The solemn ceremony will commemorate the Colorado military personnel and their families who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for their country, with a solemn transfer and interment of soil from select grave sites in the eight different countries where Colorado's fallen soldiers still lie. After the ceremony, there will be a free concert by the Denver Brass and the Colorado Celtic Pipes and Drums, as well as the opportunity to purchase a rose to be placed at the Colorado Freedom Memorial. From 12 to 2 p.m., FREE hamburgers, hot dogs, and chips will be served, and donations will be accepted. [gallery columns="2" size="medium" ids="16083,16087"] Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy the ceremony, food, and patriotic music, while reflecting on and honoring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. There will be plenty of parking available. No dogs, glass bottles, unlawful devices, illegal substances, or open-carry firearms, please.
