Five guys, five amazing voices. Face Vocal Band brings vibrant Rock-cappella to the masses. Catch their Red Rocks show on August 6!

With the backdrop of carnival rides and the smell of delicious funnel cakes lingering in the air, we sat backstage with Face Vocal Band at the Boulder County Fair to learn a little bit about their journey and a lot about their upcoming show at Red Rocks. Face is made up of some seriously talented guys: Ryan Driver (tenor), Forest Kelly (bass), Mark Megibow (beat-boxer), Cody Qualls (tenor), and Stephen Ross (countertenor). Hailing from Boulder, the group came together after a few years of being a part of different respective groups.

Each member has an extensive musical background -- whether it's performing with other bands, choral groups, music teaching, and honestly, so much more. The music roots are deep with this group. Aside from doing the typical a cappella covers, Face creates their own original songs, along with producing their own music in their studio. Last but definitely not least is Stephen Ross, the group's countertenor. Ross started singing in the Colorado Children's Chorale in 4th grade and continued his career in singing throughout his life. Before finding his place with Face, Ross was a successful teacher, winning many teaching accolades and directing several choral groups. Now that you're properly introduced, you'll understand that saying these guys have talent is an understatement. The five gentlemen have combined their musical powers to form a perfected a cappella group in Face Vocal Band.

The guys have been making music with their mouths for 16 years now and are still going strong. With several albums under their belt, they continue to grow and create amazing music (with just their voices, of course) along the way. But hitting their biggest stride yet, Face Vocal Band has landed a spot at the most iconic Colorado venue: Red Rocks Amphitheatre! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWbKavZ1Z_k On August 6, the five guys will take the stage at Red Rocks. This isn't just your typical show, though. The vocalists will be debuting tracks from their newest album, as well as raising money for an amazing cause! Five dollars of every ticket sold will go directly to music education grants. With their wide range of musical expertise, it's no surprise the group wants to facilitate music education and lend a hand in building up and helping out musicians of the future. The band has already raised over $25,000, and that number is only increasing.

There is so much in store for this show. If you haven't gotten your ticket, and donated, already, tickets range from $15 to $100. Not only will you be able to hear fantastical vocal renditions of some of your favorite songs, but a big chunk of the show will be original pieces from their new and past albums. Face is a truly unique group, and if their performance at the Boulder Fair is any indication of the performance they'll give at Red Rocks, I'd HIGHLY suggest you pick your tickets up now. Unique sounds with a local twist is what we're all about! The added benefit of knowing you're helping support music programs is simply icing on the a cappella cake!
