DETAILS: If you’ve been thinking about getting more involved in the local community here in Washington, D.C., the CivicFest this coming Saturday is the perfect opportunity to do just that. The actual event itself will focus on different arts and crafts, group yoga, balloon-making, and restorative justice workshops. But participating in CivicFest goes far beyond the day itself: Besides things you can do that day, there will also be a chance to get to know the different areas and organizations where you can volunteer in the weeks and months to come. And volunteering can take many forms, from tutoring to mentoring to advocacy.

“CivicFest is a free event combining music, dance and the arts; fun group activities and thought-provoking workshops; speakers and conversation; community; and nature – all aimed at inspiring us to work together to build stronger communities and more fulfilling lives for ourselves.”

And since the event is free to the public and doesn’t have a totally set schedule, you can feel free to come for the whole day or just for a couple of hours.

You can view a tentative schedule of the flow of the day here and learn more about the event in general here
