Let the outdoor fall festivals commence.

Fall festivals are some of my favorite parties all year long, and the best part is that they’re completely free to attend! And you can pick what you do and how long you stay. Plus, even if I don’t know anybody, I always get such a sense of community in Washington, D.C., at these kinds of events. Can you relate to that?

Well, one of the best outdoor festivals is back for another year, and it’s the H Street Festival.

It will take place on Saturday, September 15, from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., and the event will stretch down H Street (obviously, hence the name) from 4th Street to 14th Street NE in Washington, D.C. And if you’re really vibing with the energy and the crowd, don’t leave at 7. There are so many restaurants and bars, some with fabulous rooftops, for you to enjoy as a little after-party.

What else can I tell you about this festival? Well, it’s 12 years strong and always very crowded both with visitors and actual participants. There are now over 500 vendors, musicians, volunteers, etc., that are part of making this event happen, so you know it’s quite the production! It will also include 11 entertaining stages this year; you won’t even be allowed to be bored.

There will be food and drinks served outside, as well as in the aforementioned restaurants and bars. Of course, you can expect tons of specials and discounts.

Really, it’ll just be a lot of fun and a great way to spend (what will hopefully be) a beautiful fall day outside. Bring your friends, your significant other, your dog ... They’ll all enjoy it (unless your dog doesn’t like crowds. Probably shouldn't bring them then!).
