Composting club Scraps-to-Soil is holding their 9th Annual Pumpkin SMASH in Idaho Springs on Saturday, November 4! Bring your rotting jack-o'-lantern and have a smashing time getting rid of it!
After an entire month of singing the pumpkin's praises, all the "pumpkin love" has come to a screeching halt. Scraps-to-Soil's annual post-Halloween Pumpkin SMASH is a great way to dispose of those rotting pumpkins on your porch -- and have a lot of fun doing it! From baseball bats to mallets to slingshots, the Pumpkin SMASH provides a variety of methods and techniques for smashing your jack-o'-lanterns into smithereens and contributing to the composting movement. WHEN: Saturday, November 4 | 12–4 p.m. WHERE: Idaho Springs Baseball Fields | 101 Idaho Springs Road, East Idaho Springs, CO 80452 [gallery ids="26016,26017,26018"] The Pumpkin SMASH is free to attend! Just bring your pumpkins and enjoy contests, raffles, games, and composting educational opportunities. Food and drinks will be available for purchase, and additional pumpkins will also be for sale for $1 each, if you just can't get enough of all the smashing!
This is the ninth such event that Scraps-to-Soil has sponsored, and volunteers from the nonprofit group will compost all the pumpkin remains after the Pumpkin SMASH has concluded. Scraps-to-Soil is a neighborhood club that advocates for Clear Creek County to explore more recycling/upcycling and composting options in the community.
