See the sights in the city while noshing on donuts during the new D.C. Underground Donut Tour.

Besides being the seat of American democracy, D.C. is also a major travel destination. There are dozens of tours you can take to learn about U.S. history, government, and art. But a new tour coming to town is aiming to teach tourists and locals alike all about the D.C. donut scene. The Underground Donut Tour is a walking tour that takes you to some of the tastiest donut shops in the city, all while giving you a history lesson on some of the most popular sites in D.C.!

Tours started on November 19 and will run during peak donut shop hours on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

The Underground Donut Tour operates in 11 U.S. cities, the United Kingdom, and Canada.

"We're so excited to launch the donut tour in Washington DC. Our nation's capital truly has some of the nation's best donuts. If there's one issue everyone can agree on, it's that donuts are delicious," said Jeff Woelker, founder of the Underground Donut Tour.

The D.C. tour starts across the street from the White House at Lafayette Square and winds through Palmer Alley, Chinatown, and ends up in the Mt. Vernon Triangle area. Donut shops on the tour include the famous Astro Doughnuts and Chicken, Palmers Alley, Farmers and Distillers, and Toscana Market. The walking tour lasts about two hours and Underground Donuts promises you’ll leave full of donuts and knowledge.

Tickets are available online and are priced at $40 for adults and $25 for kids under 10. Tours start at 10 a.m., but the company is planning on adding more times and dates in the near future.
