It truly takes a village. And through Saturday's 5K Elf Run, sponsored by the Neighborhood Rehab Project, people are coming together to "be tools" in making their communities a better place.

The timing of the "Be a Tool 5K Elf Run" on Saturday, November 25, is particularly attractive, since we'll all (of course) be looking for a way to work off all those extra Thanksgiving calories! Not to mention, the race is a great opportunity to be a part of an incredible community movement through the Neighborhood Rehab Project. And dressing like an elf is strongly encouraged! WHEN: Saturday, November 25 | 8:30 a.m. (registration begins at 7:15 a.m.) WHERE: Downtown Golden on Washington Street (under the Howdy Folks arch) [gallery ids="27652,27651,27649,27653,27647"] All runners will receive a free pancake breakfast, a t-shirt, a goody bag, and the opportunity to win giveaways! Plus, the race will be timed, so participants can compete for medals in men's and women's categories.
The Neighborhood Rehab Project is a collaboration of residents in Golden, Arvada, Englewood, and Idaho Springs who want to make a difference in the lives of senior, disabled, and low-income neighbors around them. Through partnering together on various service projects and work days throughout the year, volunteers from a variety of organizations are able to make needed home and property repairs on behalf of those who can't. And proceeds from the Be a Tool 5K Elf Run will directly support the Neighborhood Rehab Project's growth and ability to continue making a difference through 2018. The race costs $39 for adults and $15 for kids under 12. Click here to register! And to get involved as a volunteer for future Neighborhood Rehab Projects, visit their website to learn more!
