If you want to hear some good live music, the D.C. area’s free summer concerts are a great way to enjoy the weather and music without paying a dime.

No matter what type of music you like and regardless of where you live, you can check out live music for free at one of the many free summer outdoor concert series in the local area. There are quite a few places hosting free concerts during the spring and summer! Below are the five best live summer concert series in the D.C. area.:

Adams Morgan

concert The Adams Morgan Summer Concert Series takes place on Saturdays from 5-7 p.m. during the months of May and June. On Monday, June 5, there will be a special Monday show featuring the Airport 77s and Come Together. The 2017 series wraps up with shows on June 10 and 24 when Michele McTierney and Batida Diferente grace the stage. The concerts take place on the corner of Columbia Road and 18th Street Northwest, on the north end of the neighborhood’s main strip.

American Roots Music Concert Series

If you fancy roots music styles (such as folk, Americana, blues, country and zydeco), then you should check out the American Roots Music Concert Series. Each concert is free, although seating is limited on a first come, first served basis. If you will not be arriving early, then you should bring a blanket or chair so you can enjoy the show. Host venues include The National Garden Amphitheater and Conservatory Garden Court of the United States Botanical Garden. Capitol Riverfront Friday Night Concert Series

 concert The Yards Park boardwalk is host to what is now the 7th season of the Capitol Riverfront Friday Night Concert Series. This series goes down every Friday night during the summer. Yards Park is a great place to chill out and enjoy the music, food, beverages, and magnificent view of the river. Also, nearby are several fantastic restaurants, all within walking distance. The grassy space and family-friendly music can be enjoyed by adults as well as kids. Live from the Lawn at Strathmore

 concert Strathmore, located in Bethesda, has its own weekly free summer concert series on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. The prime downtown location is ideal if you want to have a picnic with a companion or group of friends or family. Reston Concerts on the Town

concert  Reston Town Center is host to free live concerts on Saturday nights from 7:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. The free shows are family- and dog-friendly.
