If you haven't ever participated in a "Bike to Work Day," then you're seriously missing out! But fear not: we've got all the details to get you ready for this year's annual event, happening Wednesday, June 28.

Bike-riding has whole slew of benefits, not the least of which are improving the environment and improving your own health. Can you imagine how much you'd decrease your carbon footprint and increase your cardio health if you chose to ride your bike to work every single day, not to mention commuting on Bike to Work Day? Colorado has dubbed the entire month of June to be "Bike to Work Month," with the fourth Wednesday of June being "Bike to Work Day" each year. This year, that falls on Wednesday, June 28. Most states hold their annual bicycle-commuting push in May, however, Colorado legislators chose June because of May's weather tends to be more unpredictable than June's (remember the snow?). bike to work day Organized by the Denver Regional Council of Governments' Way to Go program, Bike to Work Day brings all of our city and county governments together to plan the event and raise awareness about bicycle commuting. For instance, the Town of Parker is holding a breakfast station for participants between 6 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. at Rocky Vista University on the day of the ride. And they're not the only ones; there are multiple events like that planned around the entire metro area. In addition to breakfast in various locations, Lakewood is holding an after-work Happy Hour at Belmar Plaza later that afternoon. Some stations even provide showers (which, if your commute is uphill and grueling, we're sure your co-workers will appreciate!).
