This year, volunteers across the country will be laying wreaths at military cemeteries on December 17.

Looking for something memorable to do this winter? Did you know that holiday wreaths are placed at military graves in almost every state? The good folks at Wreaths Across America coordinate the donation and placement of thousands of evergreen wreaths every year. For 2022, the big day will be on December 17. Will you be joining in this time-honored tradition?

Participating is easy. All you have to do is visit the Wreaths Across America website, enter your zip code or city, and choose a location near you. Each cemetery will have posted guidelines for where and when to arrive. This is a wonderful, meaningful family activity if you're looking for a way to donate your time this holiday season. Everything you need to lay the wreaths will be provided.

If you plan on volunteering at Arlington National Cemetery, it is a very popular destination and online registration is required for 2022. Simply click here and select your preferred entry gate, then register for a free electronic ticket. Everyone in your party needs to be registered, even children. In Arlington, additional time slots may be opened up as arrival times hit capacity.

For more information, check out the official Wreaths Across America website. Even if you can't make it in person, you can easily donate to the cause. A $15 donation is enough to provide one wreath. There are several tiers of giving to choose from, including the Give and Get option which includes a wreath for your home.
