Keep boredom away and introduce your kids to golf with Youth on Course.

If you have a budding golfer in your family, you’ll want to take advantage of a unique golf program this summer in Maryland. Youth on Course (YOC), in partnership with the Maryland State Golf Association, is a program that allows Maryland kids to golf at more than 24 local courses for just $5 a round.

The non-profit program aims to expose children to the game of golf and give kids a chance to earn scholarships and pursue careers in golf. Kids aged 6 to 18 are eligible to join the program.

Youth golfers must sign up for an annual membership with YOC and take a short online class on golf rules and regulations. The program membership is $25 per year per child and includes a one-year subscription to GolfPass. After signing up, download the YOC app to get your membership card and find participating golf courses. The app will also allow kids to track courses they have played and develop a handicap score.

Eligible courses include Fairway Hills Golf Club, East Potomac Golf Course, Carroll Park Golf Course, and more. To see a list of golf courses participating in the program, visit msga.org.

There is no limit on how many rounds kids can play, but players may be limited in the time of day and number of holes played. Golfers must book tee times in advance of play.
