Winter City Lights features acres of twinkling lights, fun winter activities, and real snow.

The holidays just aren’t the same without a visit to a holiday lights display. A new attraction is in the lineup in Maryland this year called Winter City Lights. Created by the same group that brought you Field of Screams, Winter City Lights promises to be one of the best holiday attractions in the DMV.

The holiday lights attraction opens on November 19 and will be open on weekends and select weekdays through December.

This 18-acre holiday winter land is anchored by a one-and-half-mile trail through the woods and a 32,000-square-foot lighted canopy with a synchronized light show. More than one million twinkling lights were used to decorate the surrounding forest and guests can see a light show with falling snow every 30 minutes.

“This is the largest, most sophisticated holiday lights experience in the Washington DC and Baltimore area,” said Mike Lado, Creative Director, Steelhead Events and Productions. “We’ve worked on this event for four years to create a unique, high-quality experience that offers visitors a truly unforgettable holiday lights experience—and one, unlike anything that has ever been staged in the country.”

Visitors can amp up the fun by trying their hand at axe throwing or taking a ride down the 15-foot snow tubing slide. Winter City Lights also has 14 bonfire pits where you can relax with some hot chocolate or make s’mores.

Winter City Lights is located in Olney, Maryland, about 15 minutes from the Capital Beltway and parking is free. Timed-admission tickets must be purchased online ahead of your visit and are priced at $31 for children aged 4 to 12, $39 for adults, and $34 for seniors over age 65. The lumberjack axe toss is an additional $10 per person and snow tubing is $25 for unlimited rides.
