Know Before You Go:
This is a HUGE event. With all of the street closures and hundreds of vendors, street parking will be a hail-Mary effort at best. Plan on getting a ride in or take the Metro to the Smithsonian stop. You could always try Spot Hero to reserve a nearby spot in a pay lot, but the site doesn't always figure in road closures. Click here to view the event map.
Children are welcome, and there will be family-friendly activities, but make sure your little ones can handle all of the walking. The festival will be VERY crowded. Restrooms will be limited to the outdoor port-a-potty variety.
What to expect once you get there:
Three long blocks in downtown D.C. will be jam-packed with food trucks and craft beers for you to enjoy. A main stage will be churning out live music all day from The Brau Brothers, DJ Brian Strumke, The Pietasters, Loud Boyz, and Rare Essence. Kids will be excited to fill their Food Adventure Passports with stamps from various food vendors throughout the festival and wearing themselves out with the various outdoor games.
Festival capacity will be closely monitored, so make sure to get there early if you aren't purchasing advance tickets. Snallygaster only comes once a year, and you don't want to miss it! For more information, including a list of vendors and craft beers available, visit the official event website or the Snallygaster Facebook page.
