Book lovers will not want to miss the 22nd annual Baltimore Book Festival, which is set to go down September 22-24. The event is free and open to the public.
Book lovers can attend the annual Baltimore Book Festival in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor once again on September 22-24! The festival will feature countless appearances by local, nationally known authors, plus over 100 book sellers and exhibitors will be in attendance. Expect to hear readings throughout the course of the three days, as well as attend workshops, cooking demos, storytellers, and panel discussions. Live music will soothe your soul, as food, craft beer and wine will keep your spirits high. The Baltimore Book Festival is considered “the ultimate celebration of the written word,” and is free to everyone. The festival stretches from Rash Field all the way to the Inner Harbor Amphitheater for three days of booking-loving fun. The event will be open each day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. This year’s guests include Chef Shaun O’Neale, who won Fox’s Master Chef season seven honor; author of the award-winning book "Purple Hibiscus", Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie; author of "The Living Infinite", Chantel Acevedo; Bravo reality show Southern Charm stars Deborah Davis and Patricia Altschul; author of “Wedding Toasts I’ll Never Give”, Ada Calhoun and many more. The Baltimore Book Festival’s official bookseller is "The Ivy Bookshop", an independent bookshop that was voted “Baltimore’s Best Bookstore” by Baltimore City Paper and Baltimore Magazine. The bookshop sells books primarily within the realm of fiction, non-fiction, art, cooking, biography and children’s books. If you wish to purchase a good book but need a little help finding something you would enjoy, both the festival and bookshop can help you find something based on your own preferences.
You can expect the festival to be bigger than ever! New additions to the weekend programming include the Paws and Pages stage, which explores “the worlds of animals with fascinating panel discussions” as well as animal encounters and hands-on experiences. Also new this year is the Sustainable Seafood Panel (presented by the National Aquarium), The Stoop Storytelling Series, and more.
Find comic books for all ages at the Charm City Comic Pavilion! Your geeky relative will be sure to have a blast. If you're interested in hearing from authors, the CityLit Stage will showcase authors and even artists who take part in local writing programs and are published in the city’s literary journals. There also will be a Children’ Stage, offering a variety of interactive and engaging activities for your little ones.
