Maryland

New Chinese Acrobats | The Music Center at Strathmore | Friday

The New Chinese Acrobats are not like your usual circus. Their performance this Friday night at 7:30 p.m. will be stunning, giving you an opportunity to learn some Chinese history and make memories to last a lifetime. Find out more here

Washington, D.C.

Beetlejuice | The National Theater | Friday, Saturday, Sunday

There are still a couple more weekends left to go see this award-winning musical at The National Theater! Go this weekend and experience this strangely wonderful show, based on Tim Burton’s movie. It's a great opportunity to catch it in D.C., because after November 18, it’ll be headed to New York City to make its Broadway debut. The Emporiyum Food Festival | Union Market | Friday, Saturday, Sunday

One of the best food festivals of the year, Emporiyum will feature more than 90 vendors and food artisans that you’ll never be able to find at your run-of-the-mill grocery store. Taste a bunch of new things, but also stock up on some goodies for the holidays and maybe even purchase a few gifts for the food lovers in your life. It’s a great place to learn more about new types of cuisine. Strike a Pose: Family Stories | The Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery | Friday

Are you a writer? Do you want to be a writer? Well, then you should definitely not miss this cool writers’ workshop at The National Portrait Gallery this Friday. It’s a free workshop with tons of creative energy, from the exhibit, to the speakers, to the people that attend. You’ll have your next story idea in no time. Anastasia | Kennedy Center | Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Experience the hypnotic music and timeless story of Anastasia, a girl trying her hardest to unravel her memories. This classic tale is sure to enchant your entire family, especially if your kids loved the Disney version. The amazing new score by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens is the perfect counterpoint to playwright Terrence McNally’s storyline. The show is directed by Tony Award winner Darko Tresnjak. A Taste of Senegal: Fall Feast | Hardison Hall at Westover Baptist Church | Saturday

Here is another international food festival to activate your taste buds. Come out to the festival in Arlington to partake in authentic and homemade Senegalese cuisine and drinks. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn about traditional customs around eating and family time.
