The cold snap has passed! It's time to celebrate New Year's Eve at one of these fantastic fireworks shows!

The most popular holiday for fireworks is the Fourth of July, but New Year’s Eve is a very close second here in Maryland. During COVID, many of the area's fireworks shows were scaled back or straight out canceled. But this year, everything is back, from celebrations at the Inner Harbor to dual fireworks shows in Ocean City.

Fireworks at City Dock - Annapolis

The City of Annapolis is hosting two fireworks shows over the water this year, one at 5:30 p.m. and another one at midnight. The kickoff to the early show starts with music and family-friendly entertainment at Susan Campbell Park at 4 p.m. If you’re going to the late show, you can catch the magenta shuttle from downtown Annapolis beginning at 6:30 p.m. The party on the docks is alcohol-free, but you can stop into one of the many bars downtown for a celebratory drink.

NYE 2022 Fireworks - Baltimore Inner Harbor

Celebrate the new year in the shadow of the Baltimore skyline with a midnight fireworks show on the harbor. The popular downtown fireworks display returns for another year and includes live music from Soul-Centered from 9 p.m. to midnight. The ice rink on the waterfront will stay open until midnight so visitors can enjoy one last winter skate.

Havre de Grace Annual Duck Drop - Harford County

New York City may have a crystal ball, but Harford County has a duck. The annual duck drop started in 1999 at the dawn of the new millennium when local groups organized a New Year’s Eve fireworks show. Harford County is known as “the duck capital of the world,” so organizers decided it would be symbolic to drop a lighted duck from a tower to kick off the show. More than 20 years later, the tradition is still going strong. The duck drop and fireworks show occur at Concord Point Park in Havre De Grace starting at 9:30 p.m.

Symphony of Lights - Merriweather

Have little ones who can’t stay up until midnight? Take them to the Symphony of Lights in Columbia for a stroll through the lights and an early fireworks show. Symphony of Lights will be closing out the season with one final walk-through and fireworks show over Lake Kittamaqundi at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and free for children three and under. Family packs are available, and all tickets must be purchased online before the event.

New Year’s Eve Fireworks and Drive-In Movie Night - Ocean City

Head to the beach for a New Year’s Eve bash with movies, holiday lights, and two fireworks shows. The city is hosting two fireworks shows, one at Northside Park and another at the Ocean City Inlet. Both shows kick off at midnight, so you can pick your favorite location before the show. Drive-in movies at the inlet start at 7 p.m., with Encanto and Top Gun: Maverick at 9:30 p.m. The last entrance for Winterfest of Lights is at 11:30 p.m., but tickets will go fast.
