AAA offers several fun and boozy train vacations that depart from Union Station and head to the bountiful Western Slope.

Wine or train lovers (or even more exciting, wine AND train lovers) take heed! Colorado's Western Slope has some wonderful wineries, not to mention scenery to explore, and you can start it all from a train car.

AAA is offering a three-day Colorado Wine Country Adventure from July 23-25, September 12-14, or October 2-4 that will take you on a tasting tour of Colorado's finest. It is open to all who are interested, though you will receive a discount on the total cost if you are a AAA member.

You'll begin your trek with a light breakfast and a shuttle to Union Station, where you board a train for a trip through the beautiful Rocky Mountains. The boozy fun begins here, as while onboard, you will learn about local wines, enjoy lunch and wine tastings. After crossing the Continental Divide, you'll land in Grand Junction, where a wine experience has been planned for you (including hotel accommodations).

"Visit several Grand Junction area wineries where you will indulge in local wines and food pairings. In the evening, enjoy a Winemaker’s dinner at Two Rivers Winery and Chateau. The Winemaker’s dinner is highly rated and has become a trip highlight," says the event website

The final day, you'll have a little time to explore Grand Junction before boarding motor-coach back over the hill to Denver.

If you'd like a little more relaxation time, there is a four-day excursion planned for August 9-12. It offers everything mentioned above, plus a day at Gateway Canyons Resort.

Are you all about Colorado booze in all of its forms? Then there's also an excursion for you! The four-day Wine, Brew, and Distillery Tour offers wine tasting and food pairing events at local wineries and a local distillery, as well a beer tasting at a local brewery. What more could you ask for?
