Center offers car maintenance and driver support.

The popular ride-sharing company Lyft opened a new driver’s center in Aurora last week. Located at 2930 South Havana Street, the center offers car care and maintenance exclusively to Lyft drivers, at a discounted price. Aurora has the highest concentration of Lyft drivers in the area, which fueled the company’s decision to open the center.

Driver support centers are a concept that Lyft launched in 2018, intended as a support for drivers who carry the cost of insuring and maintain their vehicles. As independent contractors, Lyft drivers are responsible for the maintenance, upkeep, and insurance of their vehicles.

The new center covers most repairs, oil changes, tire rotations, diagnostics and service, battery replacement, etc. They do not cover body or collision work. The center offers a driver lounge, refreshments, clean bathrooms, and offers in-person driver support services, onboarding, inspections, and more.

Drivers can book an appointment online at Lyft.com/drivercenter or through their app. The center takes walk-ins, as well.

Every Thursday, two classes are held at the Lyft Hub in Denver for new and inexperienced drivers: Lyft 101 and Lyft 201. Both classes start at 5:30 p.m. and reservations are not required.

The center on Havana is the fifth in the country; Lyft plans to open at least 20 more in the next year, all part of the $100 million the company earmarked for the network of driver ”hubs”. The new Havana location offers vehicle services Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and is open for driver support Monday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. through 7 p.m.
