The New Hyundai Ioniq is bringing efficiency to the masses.

[caption id="attachment_11893" align="alignleft" width="145"]Ioniq Sponsor[/caption] There's a definitely a buzz over electric and hybrid cars, but for many their high price tag and overtly-futuristic computer-designed look has been a turn off. Until now. We're happy to report that the Hyundai Ioniq has landed! Hyundai's have always been eco-friendly, cost-friendly, commuter cars but the new 2017 Ioniq takes it to a whole new level. With three models to choose from, a plug-in hybrid, a regular hybrid, and a full electric model, Hyundai has finally delivered a cost effective, eco friendly platform for people who want something that actually looks like a car. [gallery ids="11890,11891"] And it's just as sleek as it looks. Delivering 58 MPGs, the Ioniq plug-in hybrid trim has a coefficient of drag of only 0.24 which means it effortlessly glides through the air – making road trip stops dependent on the amount of liquid in your bladder, not your fuel tank. Plus, in classic Hyundai fashion, its well appointed interior is nicely laid out and visually appealing.
In plug-in hybrid trim, drivers can go 25 miles (all electric), before the hydrocarbons are released. That's three miles better than the Prius! The all electric model can go 110 miles less than a Volt, but at $8k less expensive, meaning most electric car owners can begin shopping at Whole Foods again. Other efficiency improvements on the Ioniq include Aluminium for the hood and tailgate. Hyundai said that they want to "win hearts and minds" with the Ioniq, and that goal is entirely plausible. So if you're looking to do your part and keep the air cleaner, you may just have to add Ionic to your lexicon.
