Experience luxury lodging at 280-year-old Portuguese estate inside of a wine barrel on this dream vacation.

There are a lot of exotic vacation destinations out there, and we've found one that will make you want to book a flight ASAP.

Wine lovers, you don't want to miss out on this one-of-a-kind experience! You can, quite literally, sleep inside a giant wine barrel. Yes, you read that correctly. The Quinta da Pacheca estate located in Douro, Portugal, has 10 of these luxurious and unique suites available for about $300 (USD) per night, with breakfast included.

Custom-built out of pine wood, the 270-square-foot suites house a double bed, full bathroom, air conditioning, skylights, Wi-Fi, and a private outdoor deck. Quite cozy, very upscale, and a super romantic getaway the suites sit on the 280-year-old estate, with expansive vineyards steps away from the front door.

The barrels are giant replicas of the ones used at the estate and were designed by estate owners Paulo Pereira and Maria do Céu Gonçalves to create this original wine tourism experience. Visitors can tour the winery, take wine and cooking courses, attend a wine and cheese tasting with samples of local jam and olive oil, picnic on the estate, and enjoy the gorgeous lush valley the estate sits on.

The Douro wine region has produced port and table wines for 2,000 years and is known around the world for its quality and for the beauty of the Douro River Valley. Quinta da Pacheca makes many different wines, including port, rosé, red, white, some sparkling varieties, sauvignon blanc, several reserve wines, and olive oil.

The 140-acre property also hosts guests at its hotel, a restored 18th-century manor with an onsite restaurant featuring traditional Portuguese cuisine that highlights locally grown and raised ingredients. Each meal is paired with house-made wine, the perfect offering for a restaurant on a working vineyard.

This is an ideal destination for a romantic getaway or wedding, a dream spot for any wine lover, and a gorgeous place to relax and recharge.
