2020 TV shows that we couldn't take our eyes off of.

While the effects of the pandemic did delay many film and television productions in 2020, Hollywood still found a way to release several binge-worthy TV shows for the stay-at-home audience. We’ve compiled our top 10 picks ranging from comedy to suspense. Let’s dive in starting with No. 10!

10. I Am Not Okay With This (Netflix)

Genre: comedy/drama

This coming-of-age youth drama is actually based on a comic book. While this TV show did have raving reviews with fans, Netflix canceled Season 2 due to COVID related reasons.

9. The Outsider (HBO)

Genre: crime/fantasy

Coming in at number 9, this crime-thriller based on Stephen King's novel has been canceled by HBO, but you can still appreciate the twists and turns in Season 1. You can read the book for the ending.

8. Lovecraft Country (HBO)

Genre: drama/fantasy/horror

Lovecraft Country is also based on a novel by Matt Ruff (good books make for great TV). This time-traveling tale follows one man's journey to find his father during the segregated 1950's in the United States.

7. Ratched (Netflix)

Genre: crime/suspense/drama

While Ratched isn't necessarily considered a thriller, we like to think of it as a psychological thriller. Based on the character "Nurse Ratched" from the novel, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, fans either loved it or hated it. We'll let you watch and decide for yourself.

6. Emily in Paris (Netflix)

Genre: comedy/romance/drama

Who doesn't love a small-town-girl-in-the-big-city story? We sure do! Emily in Paris follows a young millennial who moves to Paris to help a marketing firm understand the American perspective. Of course, there's love triangles, Parisian fashion, and drama along the way.

5. The Flight Attendant (HBO Max)

Genre: comedy/drama/mystery

Don't let the title fool you! This binge-worthy TV show is full of suspense, murder, love, spies, and dysfunctional families. The Flight Attendant follows one woman's "party like a rockstar" lifestyle that catches up with her when she ends up at the wrong hotel room at exactly the wrong time.

4. The Mandalorian (Disney+)

Genre: sci-fi/action/adventure

This season had so many cameo appearances that even the lukewarm Star Wars fans could appreciate it. Let's not forget the revelation of "The Child's" real name, and the most epic season finale! But, no spoilers here!

3. Upload (Amazon Prime)

A post shared by Upload (@uploadonprime)

Genre: comedy/mystery/sci-fi

Welcome to the top 3! This Amazon Original was a big hit with all who were looking for some escapism while quarantining. Upload takes place in a futuristic society where humans can "upload" their conscious in an afterlife and exist forever. There's a murder mystery, theft of intellectual property, and a little romance, too!

2. Little Fires Everywhere (Hulu)

Genre: drama/mystery

Our No. 2 pick is based on a best-selling novel of the same name. This drama is a tale of two mothers from opposite sides of the track, and how their worlds collide through their children. The show was nominated for several Emmys starring Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington. It's definitely a show to add to your watchlist!

Now, for No. 1 ... (drum roll please)

1. Schitt's Creek (IMDBTV, Netflix)

Genre: comedy

Hands down, this is No. 1! Schitt's Creek isn't a new show, but the series finale is exactly what we needed in 2020. This comedy scooped up all the virtual Emmys this year, and rightfully so! The story follows an uber rich family who fall on hard times, but they have a hard time (that's an understatement) leaving their pampered lifestyle and habits behind in Podunk town, Schitt's Creek.

That's our top 10 shows of 2020! Did we miss one of your favorites from last year? Let us know in the comments below!
