It's a sad day for the Trading Spaces family, with the passing of one of their own.

Frank Bielec, one of the designers on TLC's hit series, Trading Spaces, died on May 15, at the age of 72. News outlets are reporting that the cause of death was a heart attack.

Trading Spaces had its heyday from 2000 to 2008, during the first eight seasons. Two households switched homes to redo a single room, with a budget of just $1,000 and a celebrity designer to help guide them.

Fans of the show will remember Frank's penchant for everything Americana. Conservative participants in the popular home decorating show really loved Frank's classic designs and farm-inspired touches. He particularly loved using hand-painted art pieces and themes like barns and chickens.
