Whether you prefer the term "psychic," "medium," or "clairvoyant," Edgar Cayce (1877–1945) was world-renowned for his ability to give readings while in a trance-like state. Called the "father of holistic medicine," Cayce founded the non-profit institute Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.) in Virginia Beach in 1931.
Today, the A.R.E. campus has many attractions, including a Health Center & Spa
, a guided labyrinth walk
, a meditation garden
, a library of over 14,000 readings performed by Edgar Cayce over his lifetime, and a bookstore and gift shop. Visitors can also learn about Cayce's life history and the organization's ongoing work, like mentorship programs, camps for children and adults, and workshops focusing on topics relating to the mind, body, and spirit.
