Mask + Acne = "Maskne."

Data collected from Google Trends shows how the face mask-related skin condition has become a top search item in the health and beauty world since the coronavirus began. Lee, who is 49 years old, claims she has a unique way at keeping these unwanted blemishes off your face.

Her secret? Salicylic acid, which she uses in a body spray. Her brand, SLMD Skincare, sells it for $38 for a single 5.4-ounce bottle.

“Spray it on inside the mask,” Lee wrote as part of her video. “Fan your mask to dry a little.”

Lee explained that “salicylic acid cleans out the oil & debris within your pores preventing ACNE."

Formulated with two percent concentration of salicyclic acid, Lee's product is called SLMD Skincare Salicylic Acid Body Spray. The drug facts on Target.com show the listing of ingredients, which also include allantoin, beta glucan, and plant extracts from papaya, olive leaf, and rosemary.

However, the most critical ingredient is salicylic acid, which is in the same drug class as aspirin. 

“It works by increasing the amount of moisture in the skin and dissolving the substance that causes the skin cells to stick together,” WebMD says. “This makes it easier to shed the skin cells."
