Día del Niño celebrations, live music, and a culinary cage match. All this and more this weekend in Denver!

This weekend, we celebrate the planet during Earth Day observances and children during Día del Niño (Day of the Child) events, including free days and programming at several local museums. You'll also have the chance to enjoy musical tributes and reunions as well as the return of live music at Red Rocks.

Things to do on Friday, April 23

Left Hand Monkey Wrench (Grateful Dead Tribute)

Lotus

Lotus has always been difficult to define musically; an instrumental jam band that has favored groove-based improvisation instead of gaudy solos and noodling. Scream Screen Presents: Welcome to Amityville

Join host Theresa Mercado for four of the spookiest selections from the 20+ films in the Amityville franchise. Theresa will be presenting the surprise Amityville films "live" from Colorado's haunted Black Monarch Hotel...if she can survive overnight!

The Garden

With a soundtrack of 40s, 50s and 60s pop, Artistic Director Garrett Ammon’s newest creation takes us behind the garden wall, to a place where no one is free from transgression.

Culinary Fight Night

Two teams of local chefs cook a three-course meal, head to head, inside of a full-scale boxing ring. After six courses are enjoyed, critiqued, and scored by judges and live audience, a winner is announced and presented with a championship belt and cash prize. 

ecoMRKT

In honor of Earth Day, Edgewater Public Market is hosting ecoMRKT—a modern, sustainable pop-up market featuring local businesses dedicated to eco-friendly goods and services—on Saturday, April 24.

Rock of Ages Live: All-Star Reunion Concert

The best-reviewed, most-nominated, longest-running [hair band] musical of all time, Rock of Ages, will play a one-night-only, livestream shredfest, featuring an all-star "supergroup" of RoA alumni. 

The Comedy Zone: AJ Finney and Georgia Comstock

Based out of Denver originally from Kansas, AJ Finney is an eclectic mid-westerner with a passion for psychedelics, jam bands, and Volkswagens, and Georgia Comstock is a Denver comic, easily remembered for her major sass and goofy premises. 

Wild Things: Music of Springtime
