Prime members in the Denver-area cities can now get their groceries delivered inside their garages.

On Tuesday, Amazon announced its in-garage delivery service will be coming to Denver and surrounding cities.

The service, called Key by Amazon In-Garage Grocery Delivery, allows Prime members to have their Whole Foods Market and Amazon Fresh groceries delivered inside their garages.

The service launched in November 2020 in Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Seattle. After proving to be successful, Key by Amazon In-Garage Grocery Delivery is expanding to 5,000 additional cities which include Denver, Aurora, Thornton, Parker, and Englewood.

The in-garage grocery delivery service is available to Prime members who live in areas where Amazon offers grocery delivery at no additional cost. However, a myQ connected smart garage door opener is necessary to ensure garage access for the Amazon employee.

Head of Key by Amazon Peter Gerstberger stated that customers who have tried this have loved the service which is why they decided to expand. “As customers look for more convenience in their daily lives," said Gerstberger, "we’re excited to deliver another service that not only helps them save time, but provides peace of mind knowing that tonight’s dinner is safe in their garage and out of the weather.”

Grocery delivery services have become increasingly popular over the last year as the pandemic changed the way people shop and order food. While Amazon already offered delivery when members shopped Amazon Fresh of Whole Foods Market, it was only a matter of time the company would take the service to the next level.

With Key by Amazon, Prime members can rest assured their groceries are safe from theft, damage, and bad weather. This service can also be applied to package deliveries from Amazon. Customers who have a compatible garage door opener, or myQ Smart Garage Hub, can connect the app with Key and select "Key Delivery" when checking out their groceries.

For those interested in the service, they can check eligibility in their area through the In-Garage Grocery delivery page. If necessary, customers must purchase a myQ Smart Garage Hub and set up Key by Amazon In-Garage Delivery in the myQ app.

Amazon is currently offering a $20 credit for anyone who signs up for the service.

Would you be willing to give Amazon access to your garage if it meant groceries would be delivered directly to you? Share your thoughts in the comments.
