It looks like we get to be guinea pigs for some brand new breakfast eats from McDonald's! Three new Blueberry McGriddles will be piloted in DMV locations, and we're all for it!

This just in – these brand new sandwiches are available NOW!

Just when the all-day breakfast option lulled you back into a schedule of sleeping late, McDonald's found a new way to lure you out before noon. Blueberry McGriddles will be tested out in about 100 D.C.-area restaurants for a limited time.

“With the testing of Blueberry McGriddles®, we are building a better McDonald’s by fulfilling our customers’ desires for a little indulgence at breakfast. We’re excited for our local customers to have the first chance and opportunity to test the limited time only Blueberry McGriddles® sandwich and to hearing our customers’ response to this sweet and savory breakfast sandwich.”  – Carlos Mateos Jr., local McDonald’s franchise owner operator

In case you've been living under a rock, a McGriddle is a lovely little breakfast sandwich stuffed with bacon, egg, and cheese, or sausage, egg, and cheese, with two little syrup-rich hotcakes for the bun. So now, imagine your favorite McGriddle studded with juicy, fresh blueberries. That's it. Could this be enough to revitalize the cut-throat breakfast sandwich market? I don't know ... a 4-count of chicken minis is pretty hard to beat. We'll have to see!

For more information about this limited-time release, visit the McDonald's Newsroom and read the official press release about the launch. Remember, folks, there is no information out yet about how long this trial period will last. So maybe like the fleeting beauty of our delicate cherry blossoms, these fruity breakfast sandwiches may float away in the breeze ... you get the picture.
