On November 13, Netflix and Nickelodeon struck a multi-year deal that would create original content including TV series and movies based on your beloved characters. The specifics have yet to be announced.
To win over streamers, Nickelodeon and Netflix plan to release exclusive animated films and series based on your favorite Nickelodeon characters over the next few years. The deal was announced on November 13, but the content has yet to announced.
In the meantime, Netflix loaded up its streaming service with popular Nickelodeon shows and films like Victorious, Sam and Cat, and Big Time Movie for fans to binge until they release the series and films.
“Nickelodeon has generated scores of characters that kids love, and we look forward to telling wholly original stories that re-imagine and expand on the worlds they inhabit,” said Netflix vice president of original animation, Melissa Cobb.

The entertainment companies hope that by releasing this exclusive content they will be able to compete more effectively with other streaming services and networks. For instance, Disney+ gained 10 million subscribers in just one day with a winning price point of just $6.99 per month. It will be hard to keep up with that, considering the streaming service has most of the series and movies from '90s kids' childhoods.
So far, word has spread about a potential Spongebob Squarepants musical based on Squidward. The project is still in discussion.
