A new tavern is expected to open this month in downtown Parker where Vines Wine Bar & Bistro served customers for 15 years.
A favorite downtown Parker establishment has closed its doors. Vines Wine Bar & Bistro, which served wine aficionados and diners at the corner of Mainstreet and Victorian Drive across from O'Brien Park for 15 years, poured its final glass on November 8.
In a Facebook post on October 24, Vines owner Teresa Engel announced the closure and thanked the community for supporting the restaurant and wine bar for more than 15 years. Engel, who bought Vines in 2012, said COVID-19 closures hit Vines hard but that the Parker community rallied around the restaurant and helped it achieve a "remarkable summer." She asked the community not to see the closure of Vines as a COVID catastrophe but instead as an opportunity to sell and move on, a decision that she called a happy ending.
"There’s a reason why Parker has grown and achieved recognition as a great place to live," Engel said in the post. "This community is truly one of a kind where people support local and take a sincere interest in the success of our businesses. I’m thrilled to watch a new concept come in and be welcomed into this outstanding community, and I look forward to seeing many of you there as I plan to continue supporting them the way that I have been supported all of these years."
The new owners of the space are promising a new Parker tradition, where people can gather for fun, fresh and flavorful food and drinks that incorporate local, sustainable, and ethically sourced ingredients. Jen Black and Brent Niedringhaus, owners of Black+Haus Tavern, have begun to remodel the space and posted on Facebook that they hope to open by Thanksgiving weekend.
Black + Haus' menu is still being developed, although the restaurant promises an ever-changing selection that includes gluten-free and vegetarian food choices, a comfortable bar focused on cocktails and fun bourbon choices, and an extensive wine list. Although it isn't a sports bar, four TVs will be added to the dining room so sports fans can keep tabs on games, the owners said in a Facebook post.
