Police are searching for a suspect who used food to lure a flock of seagulls to their death in Laurel, Maryland.

The suspect purchased a bag of popcorn from the Dollar Tree in the Laurel Plaza Shopping Center on Fort Mead Road in Laurel, Maryland. He scattered the contents of the bag for the nearby seagulls, then ran into the flock with his vehicle before fleeing the scene.

The incident occurred between 9 and 10 a.m. on January 4 and was reported to the local police, who arrived at approximately 10:47 a.m. They discovered that over a dozen birds were injured and at least 10 seagulls had been killed. The injured birds have been transported to a veterinary facility for treatment.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has gotten involved, and a $5,000 reward is currently being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for this violent act.
