A shooting involving an FBI task force officer on the Hopi Reservation was under investigation Monday afternoon, according to Kevin W. Smith with the Phoenix FBI office. At about 7:25 a.m. Monday, FBI agents executed a warrant in Moenkopi, Arizona, on the Hopi Reservation, the Navajo Police Department said in a Facebook post . Navajo police said a person pulled out a weapon on the FBI agents, then the person was shot. The FBI administered first aid after shots had been fired, and the person was taken to Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation for medical care, Navajo police said. Smith confirmed the person had died but had not yet been identified. No FBI agents or task force personnel were injured, he said. Smith said the investigation was an ongoing matter, and there were no further details to release as of Tuesday afternoon.
