MISSOURI (
KSNF/KODE ) — A number of area bridges are selected for improvements. According to a press release, 20 bridges across seven counties (listed below) in the Southwest District were selected by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission to either be replaced or receive “major rehabilitation work.” The MHTC selected the “ESS” team to perform these improvements. The ESS team is a collaborative effort between engineering and construction firms. They will design and construct the bridges with oversight by Missouri Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration. Team members with ESS include Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc., and Bartlett & West, Inc.
Selected Counties:
Nearly 804 of the 10,400 bridges listed on the state’s highway system are rated as “poor” by the Federal Highway Administration.
According to MoDOT’s website , the “Kaysinger Basin Bridge Bundle” project will “Maximize the number of locations to be addressed while providing quality, low maintenance structures and roadway approaches.” The project page also states that many of these bridges are on two-lane rural routes. 14 of the 20 bridges are set for replacement, and the remaining 6 are planned for rehabilitation. The project is estimated to cost $38 million and is expected to begin in either late spring or early summer of this year (2025) — and estimated to be completed by November of 2027.
