This bow-tie really brings it.
The 2019 Ram may have more pull, and F-150s may be the "in" thing, but the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado may be the bow-tie that tops them all. Its recent release at the Detriot Auto Show showcases trims and options never before seen, and a design that I'll call tough and lovable -- like a bulldog.
But don't go thinking the Silverado has put on weight. In fact, it did the opposite. Roughly 450 pounds to be exact, thanks to an aluminum hood, tailgate, and door panels. The bed floor is still constructed using steel, and it sports a seven-inch increase in width, which means a sheet of 4 x 8 plywood can lie flat on the bed floor.

As for engines, the same steady 5.3, 6.2, and 6.2 diesel will be available along with an all-new 3.0L turbo inline six that could push the new Silverado close to 30 mpg. GM engineers say that they've spent more than 1,000 hours tweaking aerodynamics in the wind tunnel and that they've managed to reduce the new truck's drag by seven percent.
To complement that, the new Silverado borrows suspension technologies from the Corvette, more specifically a second-stage leaf spring made of composite materials. GM says that it'll help provide a silky smooth ride when the truck is empty without having to sacrifice its payload and towing capabilities.
