PGA Tour picks and predictions .
Scottie Scheffler is teeing it up for the second straight week after missing the start of the season, and he’s the favorite (+275) looking for his third win in the last four years here.
Justin Thomas ,
Hideki Matsuyama and
Jordan Spieth are all in the field, as well, along with defending champion
Nick Taylor . TPC Scottsdale has hosted this event each year since 1987, a year after the course opened. The closing stretch of the Stadium Course is one of the most exciting in golf, featuring the iconic 16th hole and the ultimate risk-reward par 4 on hole 17. It’s a par 71 and 7,261 yards, typically rewarding players who are longer off the tee. Odds provided by

Tom Kim (+500)
Kim finished 17th at the WM Phoenix Open last year and is fresh off a T-7 at Pebble Beach a week ago, so his recent form and course history are a perfect blend this week. And with a field that’s missing some of the game’s top players, he has a good chance to take advantage and notch a top 5 in Scottsdale.
Hideki Matsuyama (+300)
Matsuyama is a 2-time past champion of this event (2016-2017), but those aren’t his only impressive finishes at TPC Scottsdale. He’s also had 3 other top 25s and another top 10, so he’s familiar with the requirements to win here.
WM Phoenix Open – Top-10 picks
Sahith Theegala (+350)
Theegala has only played this event 3 times, but he finished third in 2022 and fifth last year, so he’s already gone 2-for-3 in top-10 finishes at TPC Scottsdale. His short game at a course design like this allows him to save shots around the greens, but it’s his ball striking that really makes him a contender to win.
Justin Thomas (+125)
Thomas is a chalkier play at +125, but even at that number, he’s a good value when you consider he’s finished top 10 in 4 of 6 attempts since 2019, with nothing worse than a T-17 in his 7 appearances here since 2018. For a guy who could be in for a big year, this is a good number to get him at for a top 10.
WM Phoenix Open – Top-20 picks
Si Woo Kim (+200)
In the last 3 years at TPC Scottsdale, Kim has finished 26th, 23rd and 12th, making up for some poor showings in this event earlier in his career. He climbed the leaderboard on Sunday at Pebble Beach and finished 12th, playing well in windy conditions – which won’t be a problem this week at the WM Phoenix Open.
Charley Hoffman (+300)
Hoffman came in second in this event last year after finishing 14th the year prior, once again showing that he has a knack for playing well in the WM Phoenix Open. This season alone, he already has a top 5 and another 25th-place finish, making the cut in all 3 starts.
WM Phoenix Open – Matchups
Suggested play is golfer in bold . While it’s easy to like both of these players this week, Thomas shouldn’t be so heavily favored over Matsuyama. Take the value with Matsuyama at -105 in what’s essentially a coin-flip matchup.
WM Phoenix Open – Top Canadian
Adam Hadwin (+650)
Hadwin is the fourth favorite to be the top Canadian, behind
Corey Conners (+188), Taylor (+250) and
Mackenzie Hughes (+550). That makes him a pretty big longshot, but he’s made the cut in 8 of 10 starts here and finished 10th in 2023.
WM Phoenix Open – Top English
Matt Fitzpatrick (+150)
Fitzpatrick has only played this event 3 times, all since 2022, finishing 10th, 29th and 15th. He’s the favorite to be the top English finisher, slightly ahead of
Harry Hall (+200), who has only played this event once (2024).
WM Phoenix Open – First-round leader
Scottie Scheffler (+1100)
It’s hard to find much value with Scheffler in an event where he’s +275 to win outright and -190 to finish top 5, but he’s always been a fast starter so taking him to be the first-round leader (or even top 10 at +110) is a good way to play the world No. 1.
