AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - 42 Richmond County schools were included in an updated list of the state’s lowest-performing public schools and those parents could qualify for a scholarship voucher.

The Richmond County School System is seeking feedback from community members on proposed academic calendars for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 school years.

Students zoned for these schools could be eligible to receive a 6,500-dollar voucher for private school education.

It’s part of the Georgia Promise Scholarship, approved by lawmakers last year.

The new list includes 42 schools in Richmond County - alone.

The application portal will open on March 1. Initial funding will be available on or after July 1.
